We did a spur of the moment camping trip with the kids. First time to use the trailer this year. It was great to be away for a minute with the kids, even if it was just one night!

I won a drawing and recieved a free photo shoot. We are trying to come up with a spot to get our family pictures taken. My neighbor told me about an old truck that is parked down at their shop. I took Jordan down and tried a few. I think they might turn out cute there. On the way back home we saw an old shed in my friends yard so we stopped and took a few there too. Jordan was a good sport about it. He was a little nervous when I had him get out and go pose by the shed. He didn't think I knew the people that lived there and they weren't home.

Spring Fever

I have it! It had been so cold and rainy here for so long. A couple of weeks ago we finally had a sunny day. I was walking through Wal-mart and decided to stroll through the garden department. There was a pot of purple tulips just calling to me. I couldn't resist the urge so I bought them and then wondered where I would find a spot for them. As I drove home I remembered my chair planter. I usually plant it later in the year but I thought I would try a spring arrangement this year. I came right home and planted it and gave it a home on my front porch. It has just taken me a while to get this posted. I picked a pot that the bud weren't quite ready to bloom and so now I am still waiting for my tulips to blossom. Now it has been two weeks and the basket of gold that is in with it is starting to fade so I am not sure it will have the same effect when it blooms as it did in my head. I will post a picture when the blooms finally emerge!

Jordan and Ashton both participated in spelling bees for their grades in school, and they both won first place! They did a great job and each earned 5 dollars from the principal as their prize! They were awesome! We are so proud.

I have been struggling with this for a couple of weeks now. I have been trying to customize this blog so it has a little more personality in it. What a frustrating process for someone who has little computer skill. I am learning though. Thanks to Lori my talented sister-in-law. A few minutes on the phone with her helped immensely. She is very talented.
I have been suffering from the winter doldrums I think. Hopefully the sun will shine soon and things will look up. I need to get a project going to help perk me up. Maybe a shopping trip. New living room furniture is on the list soon.

Jr. Prom

Tyler went to the Jr. Prom on Saturday. He had a great time. It is amazing that he is 17 yrs. old. He has been such a good kid and I am proud of him. I think he looks quite handsome in a tuxedo also.

Cancun

We just went on a trip to Cancun. It was great fun. We went to two of the ancient Mayan ruins. The first was called Chichen Nitza and the second Tulum. At Tulum we had an LDS tour guide named Alma. She was awesome. It was so neat to hear how these people fit into the Book of Mormon as we believe they did. We are hoping to be able to take our family there next year. We want to do a big vacation before Tyler graduates and moves on into the big world.

We had a funny experience while we were there. The day we went to Tulum we rented a car. As we were driving Dale told me about his co-worker that had been there a month before and how they got stopped by the police. The policeman demanded money for the ticket right on the spot and they all had to pool their money together or be hauled off to jail. Well after we finished our visit to Tulum we had just barely pulled out on the highway when out of nowhere came this motorcycle cop. He waved us over and strutted up to the car. He asked if we were tourists and then needed to see Dale's license. He said he would need to give us a ticket. My heart sank because we had only taken a little cash with us and then thought we could get some from the ATM if we ran low. Well when we went to the ATM we didn't have the right PIN number. Needless to say, our pesos were running a little low. We would barely have enough to get home. We asked him how fast we were going and he said 90 km in a 40 km zone. That just didn't seem right because we were barely getting on the road and people were passing us. We thought we were maybe dealing with a little corruption in the Mexican police system and that he would demand money and if we couldn't pay we would be hauled off to jail. I was just hoping that the jail would take VISA. Anyway by some miracle, he chatted with us a little and decided to give us a warning. Thank You!

All in all the vacation was wonderful! It was beautiful and I will be excited to return with our family!
